I just was terrified by that last one. This is really well done. The NRA is completely out of joint with it’s members on aspects of gun control. Start with universally-accepted common sense guys. Then look into a few faces that ACTUALLY DEAL WITH THIS. See what common sense looks like then.

Hello! My name is Carolina and I’m a Literature major currently working on an oral presentation about modern adaptations of earlier literary works. One of the examples we chose is the show Sherlock, and since there is such a big fanbase for this show in Tumblr I thought it would be a good idea to conduct an online survey to further our research.

The survey is completely anonymous and made up mostly of multiple choice questions, all very easy to answer. We need to obtain at least 50 replies to draw any sort of conclusion, so please answer if you can. The only requirement is having watched the show; if you think you can’t answer one of the questions, you can simply skip it. However, please try to answer them all honestly. It will take you only a few minutes and my research group and I really appreciate your help.

The meeting between Sarah Jane Smith and Rose Tyler was my favorite thing about season 2. And it’s what I’m excited for about the Name of the Doctor (among other things): two companions from different parts of the Doctor’s life getting to meet at a moment of non-crisis. (Bat people feeding chemicals to school children really isn’t a crisis in terms of, say, Doomsday or Journey’s End, yeah?)

In 1939 Leopold Engleitner was given a choice by the Gestapo: renounce his beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness or be arrested. Mr. Engleitner chose the latter and would spend four years in three different Nazi concentration camps: Buchenwald, Niederhagen and Ravensbrueck.

Jehovah’s Witnesses were another groups besides Jews, homosexuals and gypsies (Roma) targeted by the Nazis for annihilation. Hitler, referring to the Jehovah’s Witnesses, declared “This brood will be exterminated in Germany.” Not only conscientious objectors, the Jehovah’s Witnesses were especially infuriating to the Fuehrer because they refused to raise their arms and shout “Heil, Hitler!” They considered it a form of idolatry.

Mr. Engleitner was released in 1943 after promising to serve as an agricultural laborer near his home in Austria. He was liberated by the U.S. army in 1946.

In 2012, director Bernhard Rammenstorfer released the documentary Ladder in the Lions’ Den (the ladder symbolizing the way out that Mr. Engleitner refused when he would not renounce his faith), which examined the choices Mr. Engleitner made. You can watch the trailer here.

Leopold Engleitner, the oldest survivor of the concentration camps, died on April 21, 2013 at the age of 107.
